Here's an example of a ankle problem causing low back pain
  • On the left picture: An excessive forward chest lean is required to get lower into the squat. This puts increased force to the low back, leading to pain. This movement pattern is a compensation resulting from an ankle problem
  • On the right picture: elevating the heels to provide the needed ankle mobility: more of an upright chest, lower squat depth, and ultimately less low back compensation
  • The fix here would be fixing ankle mobility to decrease the compensation at the low back
  • Within the human body, when we lack flexibility in the major joints, excessive stress/strain to certain regions of the body happen, ultimately leading to these muscle and joint problems
